Sumitra Varma

Sumitra has a career spanning over two decades in both private and public sector roles in the software industry. Driven by a passion to make a tangible difference in public services, Sumitra joined the Civil Service in 2017 as a Senior Developer at the Home Office. Currently, she serves as the Head of Engineering at the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Products Agency (MHRA), where she leads a team of dedicated software engineers, quality assurance and data professionals. Sumitra’s leadership is characterized by her enthusiasm for continuous learning and upskilling, as well as her proactive stance towards innovation within the Civil Service.

With a growing expertise in the field of machine learning and AI, Sumitra believes strongly in championing technology, finding opportunities to innovate and demystifying AI!
