Charting the Course: My TechWomen4Boards Finalist Story

By Shubhangi Goyal

Leading with Purpose, Community and Technology

My journey in technology began in high school when I enjoyed programming. It has continued with curiosity, evolved through resilience, and continues to be driven by purpose. Moving countries as an international student meant stepping into unfamiliar environments, rebuilding networks from scratch, and learning how to navigate a completely new professional landscape. There were moments of uncertainty, but those experiences shaped my perspective and strengthened my belief in the importance of representation, mentorship, and community in technology.

Over the years, I built my career across data, analytics, and AI, working on projects over a decade that transformed complex data into meaningful business impact. But beyond technical growth, I realised that leadership is not only about delivering results; it is about creating opportunities for others to grow alongside you. That belief led me to become deeply involved in community building, mentoring, and creating platforms for knowledge sharing.

As the Women in Data™ London Chapter Lead, I have spent the past years building inclusive spaces where professionals can learn, connect, and develop confidence in their careers. Through events, panels, mentoring, and engagements, I have supported conversations around AI, leadership, career growth, and emerging technologies, always with the goal of making the industry feel more accessible and welcoming.

I also co-founded Builders Foundry, a community-driven platform focused on honest conversations around AI, software engineering, architecture, and building production-grade systems, creating a space where practitioners can learn from real-world experiences beyond the hype.

Being recognised as a TechWomen4Boards finalist is incredibly meaningful because it reflects not only professional achievement, but also the impact of perseverance, community leadership, and the willingness to keep evolving. My story is about navigating change, embracing reinvention, and helping others believe that they too can create space for themselves in technology leadership.
